SBES Spirit Rock Instructions and Rules

NOTE: Your 24 hour rental starts at 5pm the day prior to your rental. For example, if your child’s birthday is August 15th, reserve August 15th and you may begin painting AFTER 5pm on August 14th. If your reservation is for a Monday, you may begin painting AFTER 5pm on the Friday prior, or anytime that weekend.
Step 2: PAY FOR YOUR RESERVATION
Payment is due when the reservation is made on a first-come, first-serve basis. Your reservation will be removed if payment is not received within 7 days of making the reservation. The rate is $15 per day. Click here to pay.
No profane words, symbols, or any derogatory or offensive messages, no advertising for commercial purposes, no political or religious symbols or messages will be permitted on the Spirit Rock. Please no puffy paint or extra decorations on the rock.

What is a “Spirit Rock?”
A Spirit Rock is an opportunity to share exciting events with our school community by painting your own message. You can reserve the rocks for anything!! A student’s birthday, thank a teacher or staff member, congratulatory events, good luck on competitions and tournaments, recognizing milestones… The rock is a fun way to spread any kind of positive message. No profane words, symbols, or any derogatory or offensive messages, no advertising for commercial purposes, and no political or religious symbols or messages will be permitted on the Spirit Rock. Please no puffy paint or extra decorations on the rock.
How can I rent the rock?
It’s simple! Just go to our signup calendar and reserve the actual date you want. You may begin painting at 5pm on the day prior to your reservation. For example, if your event is August 15, rent the rock for August 15 and you can begin painting on August 14 at 5pm. Please respect the family before you and do not paint earlier than 5pm. If your reservation is for a Monday, you may begin painting after 5pm on the Friday prior to your reservation, or any time that weekend.
What supplies do I need?
Plan on using approximately 1 can of spray paint for the base coat to cover the previous design and then additional paint for your design. Flat spray paint works best for the base and the more expensive brands have the best coverage. Acrylic craft paints work great for the small details! Please do not use puffy paint of any kind. You will need to bring drop cloths or garbage bags to protect the ground from overspray and may also want to bring painters tape, scissors, templates, or brushes to aid in the design as well. SBES PTO does not provide any of the supplies. You must provide your own supplies.
Anyone painting the rock must leave the area in clean condition. Remove all paint materials and litter from the site and be sure the paint is disposed of properly off-campus. You may not use the dumpsters on campus. Please be kind to our environment and recycle empty paint cans, etc.
Please no puffy paints or extra decorations around the rock.
When can I paint my rock?
You can start painting the day before your reservation at 5pm.
We are not doing weekend rentals so if you rent a rock for a Monday, you can paint anytime over the weekend (after 5pm Friday).
What can I reserve the rock for?

The rock is a fun way to spread any kind of positive message. Please note that profanity, political or religious symbols or messages and business advertising messages are not permitted.
Spirit Rock paintings MUST be in good taste. SBES PTO will regularly monitor the Spirit Rock to ensure that paintings fall within the above-established guidelines. SBES PTO has the right to remove any painting deemed inappropriate by school administration without notice to those who painted the rock. In this instance, no refund will be provided.
What if I reserve the rock and the weather is bad?
The rock can be towel dried and the paint will adhere even in the rain if you want to brave the elements. If painting in the rain is not your thing, revisit the calendar and reserve the next available date and email sbespto@yahoo.com to let us know of the date change. We can also move your reservation for you.
